Turnaround Investments
In almost all of the turnaround deals that we have been involved in, new money is injected. This normally comes from third party investors usually in conjunction with leveraged debt from banks or specialist asset based lenders.
However, in this section we have listed the deals where we have acted as equity investors (as opposed to advisors) either as the majority shareholders or as minorities on a syndicated deal. The way we make our investments is that our partners pick and chose which deals they want to do and therefore individual shareholdings vary from deal to deal.
Kelso Place Asset Management – Turnaround Fund / Minority Investor / Restructuring Advisor
TMP partners are minority investors/partners in Kelso Place Asset Management’s (“KPAM”) first and second turnaround funds. KPAM is a 28% investor in TMP.
The KPAM funds have made a number of investments in both distressed and underperforming businesses with TMP as a minority partner, where TMP has worked closely with KPAM as the restructuring advisor.
So far there have been 6 investments with KPAM as a partner. Each of these investments have all been extremely successful so far with very high returns on the exits that have been achieved.
KPAM won the Accountancy Age Turnaround Awards and The Turnaround Finance Group’s Awards in 2003 and 2005.
